Meet Your Team Members.
This is the third installment of Meet Your Team Members. This month we have one new member and one founding member. Take some time to get to know these two NoCo athletes, as I'm sure you'll be seeing them at some races pretty soon.
What races do you have planned for 2015? Dallas Rock n Roll half marathon, Erie half marathon, Zooma half marathon, tri it on a Friday, lake to lake, deserts edge, and maybe Las Vegas rock n roll half marathon.
How did you initially get into triathlon? I wanted to add some variety to my running. I swam in high school but was new to biking. I would like to pretend that there was still muscle memory from my high school days but let’s be real. (lol) I purchase my road bike and clipless pedals (who came up with the idea of not being able to put your foot down when you are falling, that crazy)! I have done all my training solo and am excited to learn from others.
What was your first race? Give it a Tri, in Steamboat 2014
What is your biggest achievement in triathlon? Since last year was my first exposure to triathlons I was very pleased that I placed in my age group for all 4 tri that I competed in.
What are your long-term triathlon/fitness goals? My long-term goals are to step up to Olympic distances and gain confidence in my biking and swimming.
What is your favorite aspect of the sport? My favorite part is the challenge. I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone. It’s really hard to get comfortable being uncomfortable, but when you do amazing things happen!
Tell us a little about yourself. What are your hobbies outside of triathlon?
I have my own company and work on insurance audits. I have 3 amazing kids and the world’s most supporting husband. Outside of tri’s I love warm weather, laughing, and the mountains.
Why did you decide to join the NoCo Tri Team? As I have always trained solo, so I was looking to make new friends and be a part of a group that shares my interests. I wanted to add my support and encourage to others as they encourage me.
What races do you have planned for 2015? Florida 70.3, Tri Rock Philadelphia, Racine 70.3, Boulder Ironman and some shorter distance events in between.
What was your first race? My first race was the Fort Collins Tri back in 2002. I grew up swimming and had been running since 1999 so I thought, "why not." I borrowed an old road bike and wore a pair of speedos thinking that was proper attire.
What is your biggest achievement in triathlon? Starting Athletes in Tandem.
What are your long-term triathlon/fitness goals? My long term goals are to race with as many athletes with disabilities as I can for as long as I can.
What is your favorite aspect of the sport? My favorite aspect of this sport is that it gives me the opportunity to be well rounded physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. Plus, no quiero manboobs.
Tell us a little about yourself. What are your hobbies outside of triathlon? I enjoy travel, photography, hiking, camping and playing the guitar (though I don't do any of these as often as I would like).
Why did you decide to join the NoCo Tri Team? There's no "I" in team so I thought "I" would join.
