Meet Your Team Members

We are slowly growing into a very large team and each time a new member joins we wanted to make sure that they were properly introduced to the rest of the team.  Each month we will post bios for a few team members so we all can know a little more about the people we train and race with.

This month we had quite a few returning members along with two new members (Matt and Chris).  With warm weather in the forcast you may run into one of these members swimming, running or biking.

A cool, dry morning with overcast skies greeted racers at the Pelican Fest Triathlon this past Saturday morning in Windsor.  The NoCoTri Club, which formed earlier this year was well represented and teammates were eager to race in their kits for the first time this season.  The club had 16 people racing with a nice mix of seasoned veterans dusting off the rust and some first year triathletes.  The sprint race featured an 800M swim, 10mile bike and 5K run.

Leading the charge on the mens side were Jon Mason, 1st 35-39, Craig Depperschmidt 2nd 30-34  and Eric Smith, 2nd 35-39.
They also placed 5th, 7th, and 9th respectively overall.  For the woman, Anna Sicilano was the 1st overall female, Katie Kissane 3rd 30-34, and Natalie Santelli 5th 30-34. Others racing included Dan Frost 2nd 45-49, John Lawyer, 3rd 30-34, Theo Mioduski 4th 30-34, Troy Tafoya 3rd 50-54, Bridger Parsons, Bret Bollmeir, Joe Shaver, Tom Brown, Rebecca Blumberg, & Melody White.

In addition several club members not racing, came down to volunteer working the race course, registration, transition and anything else race director and club member Dennis Vanderheiden needed.  The event also benefited Athletes in Tandem (AiT)

After the race, members met back up under the club tent, talking about the day and some even payed a visit to the beer garden which was flowing with local beer from the High Hops Brewery.  All in all a great day of racing, building friendships and getting the 2014 season up to speed.  NoCoTri athletes will be racing more events this summer but the next two that the club will have a bigger presence at will be the Lake to Lake Triathlon on June 28th and the Steamboat Springs 1/2 Ironman on June 29th.

Coach Eric

Today is the Tip that no one wants to hear about, downtime due to injury or illness. We are at that point in the season when we start to race, up the intensity, it gets warmer so we go longer and harder and before you know it BAMM.
